Cheshire
No 1 – A Woman in a
Red Scarf
In 2004 two people
driving down a road to Winsford reported seeing a woman in a red
scarf, with a pale face but her eyes were dark and sunken, they say
that the figure stood motionless and stared right through them, and
that the woman's clothes dated the 60's or 70s. They drove past the
area the following day, only to notice that the area where they saw
the woman looked totally different to the day before.
No 2 – Dry Man in the
Rain
On Chester Road a young
boy heading home in heavy rain from his paper round encountered a man
in a white t-shirt and grey trousers standing by a gate, feeling
something was strange once the boy had walked pasted the man he look
back towards the man, only to find that he had disappeared, the young
boy soon realised what was odd about the man, despite the heavy rain,
the man was dry.
No 3 – Maid
A Maid is reported to
haunt the old grounds of the Birkenhead Hall, she was murder by her
jealous mistress that believed she was having an affair with property
owner. Witnesses have often seen her by the road sides.
No 4 – The Jogger
A report from Bosley a
mother and daughter spotted a dark figure jogging in the distance
moving towards them, but as the figure got closer the mother noticed
that the figure was wearing a monks hood but could not see a face.
The figure eventually stopped, the mother looked to her daughter then
looked back at the figure, but the figure had vanished.
No 5 – The Lady
At Cheadle Bulkely
Hall, a story from the nineteenth century says that there was a blood
stain within a room in Hall that nothing would get rid of, the stain
is thought to be linked to an unidentified female ghost that is
believed to haunt the hall.
No 6 – A Roman
Near the George and
Dragon Hotel, there is reports to be a Roman Centurion that wonders
the local paths, believed to be on guard duty, though he his often
heard marching rather than seen.
No 7 – Old City
Hospital
Old City Hospital in
Chester closed in 1991, but stories of creepy happenings still
surface today, in 1976 there was a report of a Gentlemen that claims
he was visiting his mother, but when staff spoke to the woman later
on she said that her son had died a few years prior, on another
occasion, two members of staff could hear movement from the ward
upstairs, the sounds of beds being dragged across the floor, only to
be told later that the floor above was empty and closed off.
No 8 Grey Monk
A Monk in a grey cloak
is reported to haunt the St John's Cathedral in Chester, witnesses
claim that he speaks in Old English. He was reported to make frequent
appearances in the 70s, but a recent story from 2003 says that
children approached him on Halloween before he scared them away.
No 9 – The Maid
A report of a Maid that
died of starvation after being locked within a room of the Bear and
Billet Inn in Chester, she is believed to haunt the staircase and
will only appear to men, she is thought to be behind eerie screeching
noises and the movement of ornaments within the building.
No 10 – The Staring
Man
A witness reports that
he has seen the same spirit twice, exactly a year apart whilst
driving down Audlem Road, The witness states that the spirit would
stand by the road side and would stare in his car as he would drive
past, but the entity would never appear in the rear view mirror.
