Ten Ghosts of England – Cambridgeshire

No 1 – Elderly Lady

Our first ghost of this episode is of an Elderly Lady that has been seen in Weston Colville Hall Located in West Wratting, seen on multiple occasions by one of the tenants, she is described to have greying red hair and wearing a black dress. She is believed to have lived in the Hall during World War Two.

No 2 – Ghostly Pedestrians

On Whittlesford road to cambridge, a driver witnessed three males figures dressed in Victorian clothing step out on the road and pass straight through his car, disappearing instantly, the whole experience left the driver physically ill in a sate of shock.

No 3 – WWII Bomber

A World War Two bomber pilot is witnessed to re-enact the moment of his death, as a fatal crash into a control tower upon landing lead to his demise, The reports come from an airfield on the Wittering RAF base. Also on site people have witnessed strange shadows and unexplainable loud bangs.

No 4 – Joseph Hempsall

As this story goes, Joseph Hempsall spent his last night alive heavily drinking, never to return home. His friends say that Josephs spirit came to them and lead them to his body in a bog near his home in Soham Mere. Till this day people have still seen Josephs spirit in the area.

No 5 – The Green Lady

Golden Lion Hotel in St Ives, has reports from room 13 of a Lady in Green that opens and closes doors and will often pull bed covers off of beds. Definitely not something that I would like to sit around to Witness.



No 6 – The Pilot in the Fog

In RAF Mepel in Sutton, on a foggy night an RAF Police officer witnessed an RAF Pilot in full gear disappear in front of him, he then tried to report it as an incident but was advised against it as the apparition had been seen before. Other instances involve a ghostly aircraft that can be heard but never seen.

No 7 – A Ghostly Visitor

During the 1980s – 1990s in a private home in Waterbeach, a witness reported on several occasions waking up from his sleep to see an elderly man standing in the corner of his bedroom. The witness also reports that despite that no one in the house smoked, the upstairs of the house would always have a powerful smell of Pipe tobacco.

No 8 – Horse and Carriage

On Sutton Heath Road in Peterborough, a man while travelling had to do a quick stop as he witnessed a horse and carriage come out from behind a bush on his right and cross the road in front of him.

No 9 – Dark Shadow

At the Ramsey Rural Museum in Ramsey, reports come in have a dark shadow that has been seen on numerous occassions within the building.

No 10 – Man in the Corner


The Dog and Duck Plublic house in Linton is said to be haunted by an old man that will sit in the corner of the pub, he is believed to often move chairs around and tap people on shoulders.

Ten Ghosts of England - Buckinghamshire

Ten Ghosts of Buckinghamshire

No 1 – The Limping Priest

From the 1950s onwards reports of a figure limping across the room have been witnessed in the Chenies Manor House in Amersham, although it is more often heard than seen. Though some people believe the spectre to be that of Henry VIII rather than a priest.

No 2 – Lady in Red

Bolter End in areas around Park Lane and Hanover Hill the spirit thought to be of a local girl called Anna who died just ten days before her wedding day in 1766, she now haunts the local areas and can be seen walking around wearing a red coat.

No 3 – The Fiddler

In the White Hart public house of Chalfont St Peter, Phantom footsteps along with the music of a violin have been heard, some believe it to be there Former Landlord, not quite ready to leave the place behind.

No 4 – A fast Moving Man

This report comes from a Country Lane in Chesham, where witnesses in car travelling at 50 mph, saw a man in old fashioned brown clothes run out from a slip road, and continue running down the central reservation, moving faster than the witnesses them selves. Ghostly activity at it's finest or someone very eager to get home?

No 5 – Roman Soldiers

In the 1980's Roman soldiers were spotted marching down the street in Milton Keynes – Watling street to London road area, the witness said that the soldiers feet were partially covered by the road surface, as though they were walking on the original height of the road.



No 6 – Moses Hatto

Moses Hatto was a man who was executed in 1854 for the murder of Mary Ann Spurgeon, he is reported to still roam the areas in which he committed his crime in Burnham Abbey Farm in Cippenham.

No 7 – John Mayne

Thought to have been the executioner of King Charles I's, he spent the rest of his life in a cave in Dinton, he is believed to haunt a Folly in the area that was constructed many years after he passed.

No 8 – Somerfield Supermarket

Located in Great Misseden, this supermarket claims to be haunted, as witnesses have claimed to have had their hair pulled and items on displays to be messed with, they even claim to have caught the ghost of a woman on CCTV, but unfortunately refuse to release the footage as it would reveal the location of their hidden cameras, which is a real shame, as I'm sure a lot of ghost enthusiasts would love to see it .

No 9 – An Overweight man

This phantom has been spotted many times by the same witness in the Irish club in High Wycombe, the spirit is seen to wear 1940's style clothes and would be stood next to a park bench with a small dog, when the witness would go near the figure it would disappear.

No 10 – Woman Covered in Blood


In Upton Court in Slough, People have witnessed a woman in a blood stained nightdress wandering around, it is unclear to them whether the blood is her own, or that of another person, is this the ghost of a murdered woman, or the return of a murderer?.

Ten Ghosts of England – Berkshire

No 1 – Girl in a Yellow Dress

Located in Windsor Forest – Callins Bridge, there has been reports of sightings of a girl with dark hair, if you follow her she will lead you to a mass grave of Soldiers killed in a Civil War.

No 2 – Airman

an Area around the White Swan Pub in Newbury a World War One airman was spotted by a driver and his passenger, they approached the uniformed man to offer him a lift but he had vanished. Later on when the two of them had stopped by the White Swan Pub and told their story, they had the strange feeling that the locals knew about the airman, but were unwilling to say anything about the matter.

No 3 – William Field

William Field was a farmer who committed suicide by hanging himself in his barn, though that must not have been the end of his plan as his ghost was reported to be haunting the neighbourhood until he was exorcised many years later. His spirit was forced into a pond, using a stake to keep him there.

No 4 – Mary Blandy

Mary Blandy, a woman who was hanged in 1752 for murdering her father by poison. Mary's ghost is now believed to haunt the Little Angel Public house in Remenham.

No 5 – King Charles 1 Mistress

Room 3 of the George Hotel in Wallingford is reportedly haunted by the mistress of King Charles 1 she shortly died after his execution. Room 5 is also supposed to be haunted by two children who stand by the wash basin.



No 6 – Man in a Cap

In West Hendred a man in a cap is reported to dart out into on coming traffic causing drivers to break hard or swerve, most believing it was too late to avoid a collision, but upon checking to see how the man is he's vanished with out a trace, leaving drivers and passengers baffled.

No 7 – Lady on a White Stallion

in the south of Town in Hungerford a Woman riding a white stallion has been seen galloping across the road only to disappear once reaching the other side. Also in the same area there has been reports of a mysterious hooded figure riding a bicycle.

No – 8 Man in a Coat

Park Farm in Lambourn was home to all manner of ghostly happenings as people would hear footsteps with no one else around and other unexplainable strange noises until finally one day an entity wearing a coat and hat was seen. Though two Vicars were called out to bless the property and this seems to have stopped all the odd goings on.


No 9 – Mrs Hester

In Eton, Mrs Hester is reported to haunt her old bedroom, people have heard her walking around the bedroom and staircase and is supposed to bang on closed doors, while the door to her bedroom will open all by itself.

No 10 – A Police Officer


Again in Eton, old habits die hard, a Local policemen would always stop by and share a drink of tea with two watchmen, when for two nights in a row the watchman would hear the policeman pull up on his bike and walk up to the office but never enter, when they had mentioned this to co-worker a while later, they were told that the policeman had died a few nights earlier.
